WOW!! I am so excited to be teaching this course and its for a very good reason.
Principles of technology is designed to be a conceptual physics course with real world application. This course is supposed to be 40 to 50% lab based compared to your regular science course 25%. Interesting, possibly even good news for most students. Still not the main reason I am excited as I've taught this course before.
We will be implementing a new curriculum package that is designed as a introduction to engineering. I'm not an engineer by trade or even training but I love designing and building stuff especially if it serves to solve a particular problem or issue. We get to problem solve and create using our own new ideas!
Students will use an AutoCad based system to design machines that follow general guidelines. We will test and compete with our classmates both virtually and in reality. All this while utilizing key physics concepts that not only tell us the what and why of how the universe works but gives us the tools to create!
